Multiple live primetime music shows confirm studio residencies with BBC Studioworks

BBC Studioworks has confirmed studio and ancillary services for popular entertainment shows The Voice UK, The Voice Kids & Sounds Like Friday Night.

During March and April, BBC Studioworks is once again providing studio services to The Voice UK, BBC One’s Sounds Like Friday Night and, is welcoming for the first time, ITV’s The Voice Kids.

The seventh series of The Voice UK – an ITV Studios production based on a Talpa format – returns to Studioworks. Taking up occupation in George Lucas Stage 2 at Studioworks’ Elstree production hub, the popular ITV music show will transmit its live Semi-Final on Saturday 31 March and its live Final on Saturday 7 April. The Knockout rounds, made up of two episodes, have also been facilitated by Studioworks in Elstree and were recorded in mid-March.

Alongside the adult show in George Lucas Stage 2, the second series of ITV’s The Voice Kids is also based at Studioworks. It will air in the summer and will also include a live final.

With multiple studio set-ups for the different rounds across both The Voice UK and The Voice Kids, Studioworks’ on site production galleries, equipped with industry favoured HD technology, met the demands of the complex turnaround schedule required for the two shows’ parallel recording blocks.

Fulwell 73 is also returning to Studioworks with the second series of Sounds Like Friday Night.  Produced for the BBC, the live music show will reside in Studioworks’ 10,800 sq. ft. Studio TC1 at Television Centre and will comprise of five half-hour episodes featuring live performances from some of the biggest stars in music.

Sounds Like Friday Night’s colossal set takes up the entire footprint of Studio TC1. Close to 34 ft. high and reaching up to the studios’ grid level, the set resembles an amphitheater and reflects the famous doughnut shape of Television Centre. The towering structure also includes multi-level platforms to accommodate some of the 520-strong audience.

In addition to full technical studio support, including EVS tapeless recording, Studioworks is providing Fulwell 73 with post production services for the show’s VT content via an Avid Symphony offline and online suite, with audio dubbing via protools.

The first episode of Sounds Like Friday Night will transmit live on BBC One on Friday 6 April.
