3 x Junior Engineers

We’re seeking three Junior Engineers to join our Studioworks team.

The Junior Engineers will work under the guidance of a Studio Engineer on the maintenance, implementation and operation of a wide range of broadcast equipment and systems deployed in our studios. The role is integral to ensuring electronic equipment is maintained, aligned and modified to defined standards.

Candidates should have specific skills training and have had experience demonstrating these skills in a broadcast studio, in addition to possessing an industry recognised qualification relevant to broadcast engineering (a degree, HND or equivalent).

Construction Manager, Kelvin Hall

We have an exciting opportunity for a Construction Manager based at our brand new state of the art TV Studio at Glasgow’s iconic Kelvin Hall, planned to open in Autumn 2022.

The Construction Manager is responsible for the management, co-ordination and delivery of scenic and construction services within a studio. It supervises a team to achieve the planning, turnround, and show working activity requirements of productions and customers.

The role reports to the Studio Manager and works closely with the Lighting Manager, Resource Managers, Designers, Props Masters, Lighting Directors, Production staff and the craft and turnround teams brought together to service a production.

The Construction Manager will play a key role in the training and development of the freelance scenic and construction teams, who we are committed to grow. They will also be directly involved in any future recruitment.

Lighting Manager, Kelvin Hall

We’re seeking a Lighting Manager to based at our brand new state of the art TV Studio at Glasgow’s iconic Kelvin Hall, planned to open in Autumn 2022.

Reporting to the Studio Manager, the Lighting Manager plans, organises and co-ordinates the electrical and lighting services offered by BBC Studioworks. In conjunction with the Resource Manager and Construction Manager the role provides the highest level of service to our customers.

The Lighting Manager oversees co-ordination and delivery of electrical and lighting services within our studio. It manages and supervises a predominantly freelance team to achieve the planning, rigs, derigs and show working activity requirements of productions and customers using our studios. They are also responsible for installation work, electrical and mechanical maintenance and scheduling compliance testing of hoists and other equipment.

The Lighting Manager will be a hands-on role and will be a practising gaffer. They will provide training and mentoring to help grow the lighting freelance pool in Scotland and will be directly involved in any staff recruitment.
