Love Productions’ Channel 4 commission kicks off an exciting Autumn season for BBC Studioworks at Television Centre.
BBC Studioworks chosen as the studio provider for the fifth series of Love Productions’ The Great British Bake Off: An Extra Slice
August 2018: The ten-episode series will take up its new home in BBC Studioworks’ 10,800 sq.ft. Studio TC1 at Television Centre, recording weekly on Saturday nights from 25 August until 20 October.
BBC Studioworks is providing the show with full studio and technical services, as well as a range of support services including studio management, engineering and electricians. With a 280-strong audience spread across BBC Studioworks’ retractable seating rostra and an additional 60 on gingham-clad teashop-style tables on the studio floor (adorned with the audience’s home-baked goods), the show will be captured using BBC Studioworks’ HDC-4300 cameras and recorded via its EVS XS4K tapeless recording system.
“We are really pleased to be welcoming Love Productions to Television Centre,” said Meryl McLaren, Commercial Manager, BBC Studioworks. “Studio TC1 lends itself perfectly to this type of format and I’m sure I speak on behalf of all our crew when I say we are excited to try the audiences’ home-baked goods.”
The Great British Bake Off’s companion show, An Extra Slice is the show that gives fans another bite of Bake Off. Each week host Jo Brand chats to a panel of celebrity fans about all the action, and meets the latest baker to leave the tent. The new series will air on Channel 4 later this month.
