Strictly Come Dancing’s popular spin off show, It Takes Two, and star-studded chat show, The Jonathan Ross Show, are the first productions to confirm residencies at BBC Studioworks’ revamped studio and post production facilities at Television Centre.
Produced by BBC Studios, It Takes Two sees Zoe Ball present all the backstage gossip from the world of Strictly Come Dancing. BBC Studioworks will provide the production with full studio and technical services at Television Centre between September and December 2017. Comprising of 60 episodes, four live and one recorded show per week, the production will be based in BBC Studioworks’ 3,340 sq. ft. studio, TC2.
VT content for the show will be edited alongside material for Strictly Come Dancing at BBC Studioworks’ post production edit village at its sister facility in Elstree, and will be delivered to TC2 via diverse HD Baseband video line connectivity. Extra resilience is provided using ‘Send to playback’ file transfer by which content is sent via network infrastructure to the studio EVS.
It Takes Two will be recorded via BBC Studioworks’ new EVS tapeless recording system. Media will be streamed to a new 180TB Avid Nexis in Elstree. Posterity AS-11 recordings of live transmissions will be processed through a Vidchecker AQC system before being delivered to the BBC Archive.

Over in TC1, Hot Sauce and ITV Studios’ heavyweight of comedy chat, The Jonathan Ross Show, gets up close and personal with A-list stars. BBC Studioworks’ largest studio at Television Centre will become the new home to the Saturday-night-primetime ITV chat show.
Comprising of 12 episodes, the series will record weekly between September and November 2017, with TC1’s 10,800 sq. ft. allowing an audience of up to 600 with its configurable seating rostra. The production will benefit from the use of client-tailored ancillary areas, including dressing rooms, green rooms, and production offices.
